What's behind the growth
ShopBack has been building its brand across competitive positioning and creator content at once. In September 2025, its largest Australian rival, Cashrewards, which had more than two million members, abruptly shut down after eleven years, with no reason given.
ShopBack responded within days, running a run of upsized cashback deals across major retailers including Amazon, JB Hi-Fi and Myer, and followed that with a further upsized push over Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Creator marketing has also long been core to how it grows in Australia, as its local general manager described in October 2025, and it's kept that going, with Australian lifestyle and budgeting creators regularly posting sponsored ShopBack content on Instagram through early 2026.
